Greetings Jazz/Theatre/Poetry Lovers,
This weekend is going to be an awesome weekend at the Nuyorican Poets Cafe…. On Saturday, the first ever Banana Puddin’ Jazz Poetry Night, where the feature is the banana puddin’ jazz poems you all helped to create over the years. All read by friends with a live band backing them up. If you would like to be one of the readers let me know. There’s just a couple of spots left….. Did I say live band? Well this band has the legendary jazz pianist Bertha Hope who will be celebrating her birthday along with Cafe’s supporter, Rachel de Aragon… Then on Sunday it’s "AMIRI BARAKA DAY" at the CAFE…. Spend the day with legendary Poet/Playwright, AMIRI BARAKA… Readings of his plays, followed by his performance with words and music joined with his wife, Amina and his band Blue Ark.
