Campbell Brothers
FRI, FEB 9, 8 PM
(Interactive workshop at 7 PM)
“This man (Chuck) is the Jimi Hendrix and the Django Reinhardt of the steel guitar…”
– REAL BLUES
The Campbell Brothers present a compelling, rich variety of material from the African-American Holiness-Pentecostal repertoire with a new twist: the growling, wailing, shouting, singing and swinging voice of the steel guitar, played as you have never heard it played before.
At 7 PM workshop (free with the concert ticket), audience will be given historical perspectives on common rhythmic figures and stylistic influences within Sacred Steel music. Polyrhythms, syncopation and rhythmic cohesion will be demonstrated with the audience. Additionally, the impact of Hawaiian and Country music, as well as Pentecostal vocals, will be demonstrated in songs that the audience will participate in. This will be an INTERACTIVE and rocking workshop!
Tickets: $16/$10 Members & Students (Teens 13-19 free with ID)
