Newly formed electric jazz group "Field Theory" has been busy putting together new music and playing a series of gigs in the NYC area. The compositions and electrified guitar tone of Matt Panayides blend with the mind-bending virtuosity of Matt Vashlishan on EWI to create a unique sonic texture. Supported by the creative bassist Bob Sabin and the deep groove of Mark Ferber on drums this music is alive.
Matt Panayides is a modern guitarist and composer. His compelling melodies, compositions and improvisations remain in the listener’s mind long after the gig, employing modern harmonies, free and structured improvisations, mixed-meter rhythms and straight-ahead swing. Matt has released two albums featuring his original compositions for quartet, Conduits (2015) and Tapestries (2011).
“Panayides has released an intriguing, highly pleasurable disc that combines musical prowess with a deep melodic creativity.” – Jack Huntley, All About Jazz
"Panayides entertains and impresses in equal measure. A major new talent for new times.” -Chris Spector, Midwest Record
