GARY LUCAS has accompanied films both silent and sound with his live solo guitar scores in over 20 countries to date, most recently in March at la Cinematheque francaise in Paris where he premiered his new score for Von Stroheim’s “The Wedding March”.

Next up, on June 5th, Gary performs his acclaimed live score accompanying Wu Yonggang’s 1934 masterpiece of Chinese silent cinema “The Goddess” at the Transylvania International Film Festival (TIFF) in Cluj Romania—his second time performing there.

Gary is currently in the midst of an ongoing retrospective of his live solo scores at the Metrograph, NYC’s premier arthouse cinema,  and will perform there next on Sat. June 15th accompanying a newly-restored 35mm print of  “The Golem” (1920, d. Paul Wegener and Carl Boese)  courtesy of Kino-Lorber.

This is the thirtieth anniversary of Gary’s score for “The Golem”, co-written with Walter Horn, which premiered at the Museum of the Moving Image in Astoria in 1989.
