Jon Faddis Quartet

Jon Faddis is a Grammy Award–nominated jazz trumpet player, conductor, composer and educator. Born in Oakland, California, he began playing the trumpet at age eight, inspired by seeing Louis Armstrong on the Ed Sullivan Show. Faddis has directed several orchestras, including the Grammy-winning United Nation Orchestra and the Jon Faddis Jazz Orchestra of New York.

Featuring Jon Faddis, Trumpet and Leader, Andrew Latona, Guitar, Mikey Migliore, Bass & Rodney Green, Drums.


Legendary Organist Reuben Wilson Trio

B3 great Reuben Wilson comes to Jazz Forum leading a soulful organ trio. His biggest hit was 1975’s “Gotta Get Your Own.” Rediscovered by a new generation, his music became a cornerstone of the acid jazz movement breathing new life into this important artist and he hasn’t slowed down since. Get ready to get your groove on with this master of the Hammond B3 organ.

Julius Rodriguez Quartet

An all-star quintet of young lions brings you the fresh sound of jazz’s up and coming talents. The leader, and a Westchester native, Julius Rodriguez, has already been making a name for himself in the New York City jazz scene. Julius’ budding career, boasts shows at well-known venues such as Jazz At Lincoln Center, Jazz Standard, and Smalls Jazz Club and performances with recognizable names including Javon Jackson, James Morrison, Wynton Marsalis, Carmen Lundy and Jazzmeia Horn.

The band features Philip Norris, bass, Brian Richburg Jr., drums, Morgan Guerin, tenor sax (Friday, Aug 23), Giveton Gelin, trumpet (Saturday, Aug 24), and Julius on piano and keyboards. They will be playing arrangements and original compositions by millennial jazz artists from around the world. 


Michael Feinberg Quintet

Hailed as a “musical prodigy turned evil genius” (spinner) bassist Michael Feinberg has quickly “become one of the premier young artists on the New York scene” (Jazz Inside Magazine). Raised in Atlanta, Ga. Feinberg began his music career on the bandstand as a member of Grammy-nominated trumpeter Russell Gunn’s quartet.

Feinberg is the winner of the Six String Theory Rhythm Section Contest 2012, recipient of 2010 Downbeat Student Music Award, headliner of the 2010 sxsw festival, resident at 2008 Betty Carter Jazz Ahead, and semi finalist in the 2007 International Songwriting Competition for performance and jazz composition.

Dave Stryker Quartet Celebrates Eight Track III CD!

Dave Stryker grew up in Omaha, Nebraska and moved to New York City in 1980. In New York, Stryker met the late tenor saxophonist Stanley Turrentine, who asked Stryker to join his quintet. From 1986-1995 he played with the legendary saxophonist at all the major festivals, concert halls, and clubs throughout the world.

With Turrentine, Stryker was able to play with such jazz greats as Dizzy Gillespie and Freddie Hubbard. Dave also passes along his experience and passion to students as he is the Adjunct Professor of Jazz guitar at Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University, and at the John J. Cali School of Music at Montclair State University.


Jill McCarron Quintet

Born in Minneapolis MN, pianist Jill McCarron spent her childhood and teen years in Canada. She is a graduate of Humber College in Toronto, having majored in jazz performance and arranging under the tutelage of Ron Collier, who himself had served as arranger to Duke Ellington in the 70s. While in Toronto she performed regularly with her ensembles in the city’s top venues, including George’s Spaghetti House and the Montreal Bistro. Shortly after completing her studies at the New School, the Jill McCarron Quintet won first place in the Cognac Hennessy Jazz Competition, which led to a spot in the national finals in Los Angeles.

Jill has worked and toured with such notable artists as the great trumpeter Randy Brecker, alto saxist Vincent Herring, tenor saxist Don Braden, guitarist Russell Malone, bassists Harvie S. and Jay Leonhart, among many others. Jill continues to be in demand in the NYC area as a jazz artist, as well as for solo piano and vocals in clubs and for private engagements.
