Julius Rodriguez Quintet
An all-star quintet of young lions brings you the fresh sound of up and coming Jazz talents. The leader and Westchester native, Julius Rodriguez, has already been making a name for himself in the New York City jazz scene. Julius’ budding career boasts shows at well-known venues such as Jazz At Lincoln Center, Jazz Standard, and Smalls Jazz Club and performances with recognizable names including Wynton Marsalis and Javon Jackson. The band features Giveton Gelin on trumpet, Morgan Guerin on tenor saxophone and Ewi, Daryl Johns on bass, Jonathan Barber on drums, and Julius on piano and keyboards. They will be playing arrangements of standards and original compositions by millennial jazz artists from around the world. Toshiko Akiyoshi & Lew Tabackin Quartet
NEA Jazz Master Toshiko Akiyoshi and reed virtuoso Lew Tabackin have been leading and performing in top jazz groups since the sixties. Akiyoshi is known for her challenging and full-textured arrangements that sometimes evoke her homeland, Japan, while Tabackin is recognized for his dedication to showing the full range of possibilities on his instrument – melodically, rhythmically, and dynamically. Christian Sands Trio
Christian Sands is only 25 years old, but he’s been playing piano for the past 24 years and has a couple of Grammy Award nominations under his belt, including Best Latin Jazz Piano Solo. Wynton Marsalis named him a “jazz star of the future,” and he’s enjoyed a position in Christian McBride’s trio for the last several years. He takes a fresh look at the entire language of jazz: stride, swing, bebop, progressive, fusion, Brazilian and Afro-Cuban. Monika Oliveira & The Brazilians
Monika Oliveira is a fresh and exciting vocal presence on the New York – Brazilian music scene today. This singer/songwriter was born in Belém/Pará and raised in Rio de Janeiro. She has been living and performing around New York City for over ten years. She combines her love of Brazil’s musical heritage and her love of Jazz into a sultry variation on both – Brazilian Jazz that is at once moving and rhythmic, pure and passionate. Monika’s voice enchants and entrances through her innate rhythmic feel and phrasing. Her musical experience extends from Jazz Festivals to Clubs, TV, Film, Radio and Broadway.

Wesley Amorim Quartet
Wesley Amorim, a guitarist, composer, and arranger from São Paulo, Brazil, started his musical journey at the age of 11 years old. At 17, he began playing and recording professionally using a wide range of music genres, from Brazilian to jazz, rock, pop, and gospel. He has performed in Broadway musicals, including Jesus Christ Super Star and The Lion King, and with countless artists. Amorim recently moved to the US and has already shared the stage with renowned artists, including Alcione, Oriente Lopez, Luiz Simas, Nanny Assis, Leo Maia, Arthur Lipner, Gene Perla, Eleanor Dubinski, Jackie Ribas, Vanessa Falabela, Itaiguara Brandão, Maurício Zottarelli, and others. We’re pleased to continue our monthly Open Jam Session at the Jazz Forum! Everyone is welcome to attend and enjoy the improvisation and mixture of professional, avocational and student musicians on a wide variety of instruments. The price is $10 to listen or $5 to play. The jam session will be led by the house band: the David Janeway Trio feat. Frank Tate on bass and Chuck Zeuren on drums. Come swing by!
