Joe Locke Quartet

Vibraphonist Joe Locke is widely considered to be one of the lead voices on his instrument, having won numerous awards and polls, including the 2006, 2008, and 2009 “Mallet Player of the Year” award from the Jazz Journalists Association. Long known as a soloist capable of stunning physical power and broad emotional range, Locke has performed and recorded with many notable musicians, including Grover Washington Jr., Kenny Barron, Eddie Henderson, Cecil Taylor, Dianne Reeves, and Ron Carter. Julius Rodriguez Quintet

An all-star quintet of young lions brings you the fresh sound of jazz’s up and coming talents. The leader, and a Westchester native, Julius Rodriguez, has already been making a name for himself in the New York City jazz scene. Julius’ budding career, boasts shows at well-known venues such as Jazz At Lincoln Center, Jazz Standard, and Smalls Jazz Club and performances with recognizable names including Javon Jackson, James Morrison, Wynton Marsalis, and Jazzmeia Horn. The band features Giveton Gelin on trumpet, Morgan Guerin on tenor saxophone and EWI, Daryl Johns on Bass, Jonathan Barber on drums, and Julius on piano and keyboards. They will be playing arrangements and original compositions by millennial jazz artists from around the world. See them at the Jazz Forum on Friday, Jan. 19th and Saturday, Jan. 20th at 7 & 9 pm both nights!

Mauricio de Souza’s Bossa Brazil

Born in Brasília, Brazil, Maurício de Souza is a jazz drummer who easily performs in both traditional jazz and Brazilian jazz styles. His good taste and finesse have allowed him to play in numerous settings with various accomplished musicians. De Souza was a pupil of world-renowned jazz drummer Joe Morello. He has also studied with Ney Rosauro and distinguished all-round percussion teacher Glenn Weber. Aside from the inspiration of Mr. Morello, other influential performers include Buddy Rich, Airto Moreira, Dave Weckl, Roy Haynes, and Bill Stewart. First Sunday of the month, 8pm-11pm

We’re pleased to continue our monthly Open Jam Session at the Jazz Forum!  Everyone is welcome to attend and enjoy the improvisation and mixture of professional, avocational and student musicians on a wide variety of instruments. The price is $10 to listen or $5 to play. The jam session will be led by the house band:  the David Janeway Trio feat. Frank Tate on bass and Chuck Zeuren on drums. Come swing by!
