Beninghove’s Hangmen 12:00PM

Beninghove’s Hangmen, the brainchild of the mischievous, noir-loving jazzman Bryan Beninghove, is a sextet of avant-improvisers that shimmy, thump, squeal, and provide the camp to hummable surf-rock originals. The influences span the musical landscape in oddball fashion, yet feature plenty of ripping that jazz fans can admire. With Eyal Maoz, Dane Johnson, Rick Parker, Ezra Gale, and Yuval Lion.

Charenée Wade 1:30PM

This vocalist / arranger / composer / educator recently released an album of Gil Scott-Heron’s music that showed up on the top 10 lists of more than a few jazz journalists. Charenee has recorded with such diverse artists as Bobby Sanabria, Matt Wilson, Oscar Perez, Rufus Reid and Aaron Diehl, and can always be counted on to make her own unique statement.

Stephane Wrembel Band 3:00PM

The Stephane Wrembel Band is back on the road with two new recordings on Water Is Life Records, The Django Experiment I and II. Both recordings primarily feature The Stephane Wrembel Band’s own interpretation of the songs of legendary jazz guitarist Django Reinhardt, as well as Wrembel’s original compositions, and those of other writers of the same vein of music. The Django Experiment I and II were released in conjunction with the Wrembel-produced Django A Gogo concert held at Carnegie Hall on March 3, 2017. The event received rave reviews and included guitar masters Al Di Meola, Larry Keel, Stochelo Rosenberg and other gifted musicians all celebrating the music of Django Reinhardt.

International Jazz Quartet Feat Jimmy Cobb 4:30PM

At 88 years old, drummer Jimmy Cobb has a whole world of American music in his hands. The NEA Jazz Master secured his place in history with Miles Davis and John Coltrane, but also accompanied the likes of Billie Holiday, Dinah Washington, Sarah Vaughan, Wes Montgomery and countless others. Originally from Washington DC, Cobb is forever immortalized on the Miles Davis masterpiece “Kind of Blue”.

The Fania Project 6:30PM

Featuring Latin artists associated with the ground-breaking Fania record label of the 1960s and 1970s, under the direction of percussionist John “Dandy” Rodriguez. John spent more than 30 years with Puente’s bands, and also performed with the likes of Ray Barretto, Tito Rodriguez and other Latin music icons. He was a founding member of the Latin Giants Orchestra, as well as Tipica 73, and is recognized as a percussion and Latin music innovator.

To say that vinyl records are a part of Jamison Harvey aka DJ Prestige’s life is an understatement. A DJ and vinyl advocate for over 20 years, Prestige has been a vocal champion for all things vinyl through his live shows and here at Flea Market Funk. On this site he rescues these often forgotten artists of Funk,Soul, Jazz, Reggae and Hip Hop and their music from obscurity while also preserving them through original mixes, reviews, and live sets. This dedication to this music has forged a name for Prestige and Flea Market Funk.

Ted tells a musical story reminiscent of the sophistication of Miles Davis, Chet Baker, Frank Sinatra, and Ahmad Jamal, mixed with the funky swagger of Lee Morgan, and interpreted through the lens of a new era and a wide palate of diverse musical influences.

The Snarky Horns 4:00PM

The horn section The Snarky Horns are the long time horn section for the Multi-Grammy award winning group Snarky Puppy. In addition to creating a distinctive sound with SP, the section has been called upon to perform or record with a stylistically wide range of artists including David Crosby, Beyonce, Phish, Soulive, Jon Medeski, Railroad Earth, Eric Harland’s Voyager, Lucy Woodward, Chantae Cann, Jazz is Phish, The Everyone Orchestra, and many others. the three-time Grammy-winning band Snarky Puppy offers an exciting mash-up of jazz, funk, R&B, world music, pop and more. Don’t call this critically acclaimed ensemble a jam band or a fusion band, but don’t be surprised to hear some of those elements.

Moore’s Lounge All-Stars feat. Wycliffe Gordon 5:30PM

Trombonist and multi-instrumentalist Wycliffe Gordon has been a household name in jazz for decades. Since his early work with Wynton Marsalis, Wycliffe has gone on to record over 25 albums as a leader and countless others as a sideman. He is also one of the world’s foremost jazz educators, holding positions at Julliard, Michigan State, and Manhattan School of Music. He will be joined by the Moore’s Lounge All-Stars, led by internationally known drummer Winard Harper.
