The program will include Luiz's and Wesley’s infectious original tunes as well as compositions by Radames Gnattali, Egberto Gismonti and many other great Brazilian composers. It will feature also new arrangements of a Lennon/McCartney favorite, and of the Agustín Barrios virtuosic piece “Las Abejas”.
Rio-born Brazilian jazz composer/singer/pianist Luiz Simas is a genuine Carioca! A New Yorker since ‘89, he has led original groups in jazz festivals and clubs in the US, in Europe and in Brazil. Luiz' voice and music have warmed major venues including Birdland, the Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall and Bargemusic. Wesley Amorim, a guitarist, composer, and arranger from São Paulo, Brazil, started his musical journey at the age of 11 years old. Graduated in music from the São Caetano do Sul Arts Foundation (FASCS), At 17, he began playing and recording professionally using a wide range of music genres, from Brazilian to jazz, rock, pop, and gospel. he has performed in Broadway musicals, including Jesus Christ Super Star and The Lion King, and with countless artists. Amorim recently moved to the US and has already shared the stage with renowned artists, including Alcione, Neguinho da Beija-Flor, Jair Oliveira, Leo Maia, Oriente Lopez, Luiz Simas, Nanny Assis, Arthur Lipner, Eleanor Dubinsky, Jackie Ribas, Vanessa Falabela, Itaiguara Brandão and many others.
