The show, Watercolors of Brazil featuring Téka: A mix of the sensual rhythms and harmonies of Brazil with the sophistication and improvisation of Jazz - a fascinating musical blend Téka calls New Bossa. A native of Londrina, Brazil, Téka mastered the traditions of Brazilian music at an early age. Along the way, she became equally entranced by American jazz. After graduating in Music Education from Sao Paulo University, Téka studied at Boston’s Berklee College and Longy School of Music.
Téka has performed with Brazilian and American legends such as Hermeto Pascoal, Gilberto Gil, Flora Purim, Airto Moreira and Roger Kellaway. She has appeared as the contralto soloist with numerous chorales and has been featured as soloist with the Long Beach Symphony Orchestra, The San Luis Obispo Symphony Orchestra, and The Glendale Pops Orchestra as well as many national and International Jazz Festivals.
Her recordings as a leader, Garden Planet and Watercolors of Brazil have received high praise from critics and audiences.
