Among the top Brazilian jazz musicians in modern times, Portinho is a master drummer, and a lover of not only the samba, but contemporary jazz. A go-to sideman, he’s worked with Gato Barbieri, Charlie Rouse, Michel Legrand, Michael Brecker, Louis Hayes, Tania Maria and Ron Carter over a stellar four-decade career. He comes to Tarrytown with his regular collaborators: Klaus Mueller, piano, Lincoln Goines, bass, and Ofer Assaf, sax.
