7 & 9:30 PM

Dave Stryker grew up in Omaha, Nebraska and moved to New York City in 1980. In New York, Stryker met the late tenor saxophonist Stanley Turrentine, who asked Stryker to join his quintet. From 1986-1995 he played with the legendary saxophonist at all the major festivals, concert halls, and clubs throughout the world.

Dave’s new CD Eight Track III has been #1 for 6 weeks on the JazzWeek Radio chart and is getting great reviews including 4 Stars in Downbeat. Village Voice calls him “one of the most distinctive guitarists to come along in recent years” and he was recently voted once again into the 2018 Downbeat Readers and Critics Polls for the 10th time.

Pianist Jill McCarron majored in jazz performance and arranging under the tutelage of Ron Collier, who himself had served as arranger to Duke Ellington in the 70s. She has performed regularly with her ensembles in Toronto’s top venues, including George’s Spaghetti House and the Montreal Bistro. Jill McCarron Quintet won first place in the Cognac Hennessy Jazz Competition and she continues to be in demand in the NYC area as a jazz artist, as well as for solo piano and vocals in clubs and for private engagements.

Through his multifaceted career as a jazz guitarist, vocalist and bandleader, the son of the legendary New Jersey native guitarist, Bucky Pizzarelli, has become one of the most recognizable faces and voices in contemporary jazz for his interpretations of classic standards, romantic ballads and the cool jazz flavor he brings to his performances and recordings.

Tyler Blanton Quartet feat Drew Gress & Johnathan Blake + Special Guest Pianist

4 & 6 PM

Brooklyn based vibraphonist Tyler Blanton is becoming known as a new and identifiable voice on the instrument. With his distinctly lyrical and nuanced 4 mallet approach to the vibraphone, he has been praised as “an heir to the swinging and melodically charged throne of post-bop masters such as Gary Burton and Bobby Hutcherson.” Blanton’s musical endeavors consistently involve top musicians in the New York music scene and his compositions range from modern and eclectic to soulful and rooted, all the while painting a unified musical identity.

See Tyler Blanton Quartet featuring Drew Gress, bass, and Johnathan Blake, drums plus special guest pianist, Jon Cowherd!
