Snack Cat & Generations – A Family Affair
In another lifetime Mike Glick swapped first LP’s with Lucinda Williams, had Pete Seeger call him “one of the best songwriters going,” and was mentioned in the record notes for avante garde classical composer Frederic Rzewski’s award-winning piano composition, “36 Variations on The People United Will Never Be Defeated.” Then he all but disappeared from the musical map for more than 20 years……
Now he’s back, slowly re-building his music career, culminating in his soon-to-be-released CD, “Alternative Facts & Other White Lies.” Accompanied by his son, Aleksi, and superb vocalist, Lindsey Wilson, he will be the first half of a program Friday, December 13, 8 pm at the Tribeca Performing Arts Center with his son.
Aleksi Glick’s 8-piece R&B group, Snack Cat, recently signed to Ropeadope Records, will make up the second half of the program.
Aleksi, whose own musical career inspired his father to resume his, is a high energy, high-level jazz and blues guitarist who has studied, and now played, with such guitar luminaries as Vic Juris and Paul Bollenbeck.
Snack Cat itself is a band made up of first class musicians with multiple credits of their own, with Jeff Koch (bass), Pete Ayres (Vocals), Chantal Mitvalsky (Vocals), Nathan Ellman-Bell (Drums), Seth Weaver (backup vocals/trombone), David Engelhard (sax), and Sharik Hasan- (keys).
