The Jazz Singer is a videotaped adaptation, starring Jerry Lewis, of Samson Raphaelson's play of the same name. It was broadcast on October 13, 1959 as the second episode of the American television anthology series on NBCFord Startime.

Cantor Rabinowitz (Eduard Franz, The Ten Commandments) is upset that son Joey (Jerry Lewis) has no interest in becoming a synagogue canter, a family tradition for five generations. Worse yet, he's left home to pursue a career as a jazz singer and comedian. But when the cantor suddenly falls gravely ill, Joey grapples with filling in for his ailing father, or seizing the opportunity to be a star.
