The George Gee Swing Orchestra
To Open Jazz Showcase Season
At the Bickford Theatre

September 28th Concert Features Food Truck Picnic

Tickets & Info

The George Gee Swing Orchestra opens the new expanded jazz showcase season at the Bickford Theatre in Morristown on Thursday, September 28. One of the world’s most popular big bands, the George Gee Swing Orchestra will appear for the first time at the intimate theatre. The concert begins at 7:30. The food truck picnic, which was extremely popular for Summer Jazzfest, will begin at 5:00 for those who want to enjoy some early fall tailgating. All seats for the concert are reserved and available online at www.morrismuseum.org or by phone at 973-971-3706.

Led by the charismatic George Gee, the only Chinese-American big band leader around, the 11-piece orchestra is comprised of some of New York’s top jazz musicians including Michael Hashim, tenor sax; Julius Tolentino, alto sax; Tony Lustig, baritone sax; trumpeters Freddie Hendrix and Andy Gravish; David Gibson, trombone; Steve Einerson, piano, Brian Fishler, drums; and Clark Terry’s longtime bassist Marcus McLaurine. George Gee is pleased to introduce a young singer making a name for herself in New York City, Shenel Johns, who will pay tribute to one her idols, Ella Fitzgerald.

About the band, Gee has said, “Our enthusiasm is obvious and infections. Swing music generally is upbeat and cheerful … It was created during a challenging era expressly to uplift audiences. And it continues to uplift us today.”

The George Gee Swing Orchestra was the first big band to play on MTV and has been spotlighted on many television shows from “Entertainment Tonight” to “Live at Lincoln Center.” The band has provided specially scored music and made an “animated” guest appearance in a Fantastic Four cartoon. Not only have they toured across the entire country from Boston to Beverley Hills, they have appeared all over the world in places as diverse as Europe, Asia, and South America. A mainstay at New York City’s famed Rainbow Room, the band is now a regular headliner at Swing46 Jazz and Supper Club in midtown Manhattan.

The Jazz Showcase Season is supported in part by the New Jersey Jazz Society, Hot House Jazz Magazine, the New Jersey State Chamber of Commerce, NJ Jazz List, and NJ Arts Daily.

Tickets are $25 in advance and may be purchased online at morrismuseum.org, by phone at (973) 971-3706, or in person at the Bickford Theatre Box Office. All seats are reserved so order your tickets early. The concert begins at 7:30 with food trucks onsite for tailgating starting at 5:00.

NOV 7 – 12, 2017

Produced by Pat Philips Stratta

The Django Reinhardt NY Festival launched in 2000 at Birdland is in it’s 18th year.  Out of the Festival came the top players, The Django Festival Allstars, who tour 2X a year and always spend a week at their home in the US, BIRDLAND.  On the road, to standing ovations, they play top venues –Hollywood Bowl, San Francisco Jazz Festival, Kennedy Center, Montreal Jazz Festival and much more with original music in the style and Django favorites.  This past summer at the Playboy Jazz Festival at the Bowl, critic Scott Yanow wrote “highpoint of the entire festival”!

Dad, DORADO SCHMITT, started performing in NY in 2002  when SAMSON was 21 and  AMATI  5, all grown up now and  together on the Birdland stage for the first time. It’s a family dynasty of enormous  talent that comes from the soul of gypsy life where music is God, joined by virtuoso accordionist LUDOVIC BEIER and Grappelli protégé, PIERRE BLANCHARD, on Violin.  They will put you on the edge of your seats with joy,  smiles, shock you with their hot #’s and break your heart with a ballad, joined by gypsy cousin, Francko Mehrstein, on rhythm guitar and Gino Roman on Bass.

The Special guests include the young great saxist Grace Kelly Nov. 7,8, and 11 and top swinging clarinetist Ken Peploski on Nov. 9 and 10 , For a change of pace,  newcomer Chris Smith will be on drums on Nov. 12th

The music harkens back to the 30’s and 40’s in France to the Hot Club Quintette of Django and Grappelli, romantic days in ‘ol Paris with swing music in the dance halls and streets while campfires lit up the sky on the outskirts of Paris with gypsy life.  Music and family  was and still  is King !  Hot Jazz has more than survived, is vibrant and causing a sensation all over the country.

The musicians  will again be  on tour as well (see schedule below) and at their NY home, Birdland Nov. 7-12 before returning home to  Paris and gypsy community Forbach, France,  near Germany.  It’s real, it’s romantic, it’s exciting…let your heart lead the way.  The Festival was co-founded by Maestro Ettore Stratta.

The Rippingtons: Featuring Russ Freeman
Fri. September 29 at 8pm

“When I started the Rippingtons, I never imagined it would last more than the release of one album, let alone thirty years!” said Russ Freeman, leader and founder of the pioneering, GRAMMY® nominated group The Rippingtons, who are celebrating their 30th anniversary with the release of True Stories, the band’s 22nd CD.

True Stories, which released in June 2016, is a refreshing elixir that will delight devout fans and attract new ones. Joined by original Rippington, alto and soprano saxophonist Brandon Fields, drummer Dave Karasony, bassist and rhodes player Rico Belled and special guest Grammy-winning Jeffrey Osborne, Freeman orchestrates ten compelling original song such as “Wild Tales,” “My Promise,” and “Wonderland.”

True Stories is a testament to the unwavering artistry of Russ Freeman and The Rippingtons and confirmation that there are still many more tales to be told. “I’m trying to reach for a place I have not been. I’m looking for inspiration. I never look back. ”It is this forward momentum that propels the notes on True Stories and keeps the listeners yearning for the next chapter. And the cover features the spunky and funk jazz cat that devoted Rippingtons fans are well acquainted with.

Critics love MJ’s new CD “Ladies Day”
Downbeat 3-1/2 stars

MJ Territo is a veteran singer who is very much a storyteller. With a

calm delivery and ear for poetry, she sticks to the lyrics of songs while

giving them a gentle swing. As the set progresses, Territo’s versatility and subtle creativity grow. Her singing on “True” is beautiful,
and she is properly fetching on Dearie’s “I’m Shadowing You.” —Scott Yanow

All About Jazz:

Vocalist MJ Territo celebrates all things women on her ambitious and

overdue Ladies Day. What this recording proves to be
is one of the most attractive  standards sets imagined, because these standards… are not so standard. Territo… expertly guides this welcome romp through the

less known….This is a collection of finely composed songs expertly

delivered in a thoughtful and compelling production. Well done!
–C. Michael Bailey

Soul Jazz: Jazz in the Black Community, 1945-1975

Record producer, jazz writer and broadcaster Bob Porter discusses his new book Soul Jazz: Jazz in the Black Community, 1945-1975, which complies a history of jazz in the back community in the period from the end of World War II until the end of the Vietnam War.

Soul Jazz is a history of jazz and its reception in the black community in the period from the end of World War II until the end of the Vietnam War. Previous histories reflect the perspective of an integrated America, yet the United States was a segregated country in 1945. The black audience had a very different take on the music and that is the perception explored in Soul Jazz.

Bob Porter is a record producer, writer and broadcaster in the fields of Jazz and Blues.  He has worked for such prominent record labels a Prestige, Savoy and Atlantic.  He has produced more than 175 albums and several hundred reissues.  He has contributed to DownBeat, JazzTimes, Jazz Journal (London) and currently writes a book review column for the Journal of the International Association of Jazz Record Collectors.  He is a two-time Grammy winner, was awarded the Marion McPartland Award for Excellence in Jazz Broadcasting and is a member of the Blues Foundation Hall of Fame.  He currently is the host of three separate radio programs on WBGO Newark.

Frank Catalano’s new Ropeadope Recording, “God’s Gonna Cut You Down” debuted at #2 on the iTunes Jazz sales chart and was the #1 charting Instrumental album upon its release in April 2015. “Love Supreme Collective” Debuted at #1 on the itunes Jazz Charts in July 2014 and is an homage to John Coltrane featuring Jimmy Chamberlin (Smashing Pumpkins), Percy Jones (Brand X), Chris Poland (Megadeath), and Adam Benjamin (Kneebody). Frank’s Savoy/Columbia recording “Bang!” debuted at #12 on the Billboard Jazz Charts. Frank’s recording, “Mighty Burner” was on the Billboard Charts for 20 straight weeks. Now 37 years old, Catalano is the only known saxman to have performed with Miles Davis, Randy Brecker, Charles Earland, Elvin Jones, Stan Getz, Betty Carter, Von Freeman, Tito Puente, Tony Bennett, Les Claypool and Louis Bellson while still in high school! This led to his signing to Delmark Records at age 18 and a string of critically acclaimed recordings. Catalano has been heard by millions of people all over the world thanks in part to 3 Grammy-winning and 11 Grammy-nominated recordings with artists such as Jennifer Lopez, Destiny’s Child, and John Legend. He has also performed live on the Oprah Winfrey TV show with singer/composer Seal.

No stranger to adversity, Frank cut off his right middle finger in an automobile accident. After several surgeries and much effort, Catalano relearned his signature technique, making him one of the most in-demand musicians today. He regularly donates his musical services to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.

Also an entrepreneur, Frank has patented a devise that allows him to control his saxophone via midi components. Frank is a spokesperson/clinician/performing artist for companies such as Yamaha, Rico/D’Addario, and JodyJazz. He can be seen in their Print Ads worldwide. Catalano’s songs have been used in the ad campaigns of Motorola, Jaguar, Land Rover, and Budweiser as well as numerous TV and Film productions.

When not on tour or in the studio, Frank enjoys composing classical music. Frank graduated from DePaul University with a BA in music composition and he plays piano, drums and flute in addition to the saxophone. Frank’s non-musical interests include racing his BWM in closed course competition.

Bob Dorough Back to… Schoolhouse Rocks!
at the Iridium
Sunday, September 17th
Sets 5:00 and 7:30 pm
Tickets & Info

When it comes to music, bebop and cool jazz pianist, singer and composer Bob Dorough is nothing short of a legend. He’ll show why when his trio performs Back to… Schoolhouse Rocks! at the Iridium on Sunday, September 17, with sets at 5:00 and 7:30 pm.

From the moment he hit the New York jazz scene in the late 1940s, Dorough was off and running, jamming and gigging with the best in the business. He quickly became known as a master of bebop, and a pioneer in creative scat and vocalese, inspired by Babs Gonzales, and in turn, inspiring top jazz singers such as Mark Murphy, Mose Allison and Kurt Elling. This musician’s musician, grounded in the big band era, has also written swing-influenced tunes, such as “Devil May Care” and “Nothing Like You,” now fixtures among the standards of the Great American Songbook. In 1956 Dorough recorded his first album as a leader, Devil May Care, with its title track of the same name. The album also contained a tribute to the recently deceased bebop icon, Charlie Parker, with Dorough adding lyrics to Birds’ “Yardbird Suite.”

Dorough is also known for his association with Blossom Dearie, and for being the only vocalist to record with bebop trumpeter and legend Miles Davis. Davis sought out Dorough to write lyrics for, and perform, “Blue Xmas” on a 1962 Christmas album. At the same time Dorough also recorded “Nothing Like You” for Davis, which the trumpeter included on his 1967 album, Sorcerer. Dorough may be best known as the composer and performer of songs for Schoolhouse Rock!, a long-running animated series televised on Saturday mornings from 1973 to 1985,  and again for five years in the 1990s. Literally thousands of kids learned math, grammar, economics, civics and much more from tunes such as “Three Is a Magic Number” and “Conjunction Junction.” More than anything, though, is Dorough’s love of performing, to which his sell-out audiences will attest. Bob Dorough appears at the Iridium with his long-time sidemen, Steve Berger on guitar and vocals, and Paul Rostock on bass.

Jazz guitarist Roni Ben-Hur has earned a sterling reputation as a musician and educator, renowned for his golden tone, improvisational brilliance, compositional lyricism and ability to charm peers, students and listeners alike. Eminent jazz critic Gary Giddins wrote in the Village Voice: “A limber and inventive guitarist, Ben-Hur keeps the modernist flame alive and pure, with a low flame burning in every note… [He’s] a guitarist who knows the changes and his own mind.” Ben-Hur – born in Israel in 1962 but a longtime American citizen, now based in Harlem, New York – has released 11 albums as leader or co-leader, with Time Out New York calling him “a formidable and consummately lyrical guitarist.” The Star-Ledger of New Jersey summed him up this way: “A deep musician, a storyteller, Ben-Hur works with a warm, glowing sound and has an alluring way of combining engaging notes with supple rhythm.”

Dave Liebman Tribute to Coltrane
Cynthia Hilts by John Abbott Saturday, 1 PM: Lyric Fury
Pianist, composer, and vocalist Cynthia Hilts brings her eight-piece Brooklyn-based jazz ensemble to our stage.  The musicians of Lyric Fury bring several worlds of expertise to the repertoire. Each member approaches the music with her/his individual philosophy and voice. DownBeat calls LYRIC FURY “a funky full mambo full of Mingus-meets-Debussy” and their recent CD “one of the more outrageous releases of 2017.”
Saturday, 2:45: Ola Onabule
British born, Nigerian bred vocalist/ composer Ola Onabule follows with “A killer voice, and three-octave range.” Jazzwise says, “He packs more musical ideas into one song than many artists over an entire album.” All About Jazz gives his CD, It’s the Peace that Deafens 4 stars. Those who already know Ola’s work truly appreciate this powerful performer and his capacity to cross cultural and musical boundaries with an unflinching and lyrical pursuit of truth and justice.
Saturday, 4:30: The Cookers
THE COOKERS, an electrifying ensemble the NY Times brands “the dream team,” summon up an aggressive mid ‘60s spirit with a collection of post-bop originals marked by all the requisite killer instincts and pyrotechnic playing expected of some of the heaviest hitters on the scene today. These are names to conjure with: David Weiss – trumpet, Billy Harper – tenor sax, Eddie Henderson – trumpet, Donald Harrison – alto sax, George Cables – piano, Cecil McBee – bass, and Billy Hart – drums.
Saturday evening performance, 7:30 pm
Dave Liebman Tribute to Coltrane
David Liebman’s career has spanned nearly five decades. It started in 1970s as the saxophone/flautist in both the Elvin Jones and Miles Davis Groups. His artistic output has ranged from straight ahead classic jazz to chamber music; from fusion to avant garde and world music. Our Saturday evening show presents a Tribute to Coltrane, under the direction of Gunnar Mossblad, celebrating Coltrane’s 90th birthday, Liebman’s 70th birthday, and the 50th anniversary of Coltrane’s death. Liebman talks about hearing Coltrane live at the Five Spot as an epiphany. “Leib” will perform Coltrane masterworks arranged specifically for him.
Sunday, 1 PM: Camille Thurman
& the Darrell Green Trio
Camille Thurman has been amazing audiences throughout the world with her warm vocals and skilled saxophone playing. DownBeat recognized her as “A rising star [singer with] soulful inflection and remarkable, Fitzgerald-esque scat prowess” and by All About Jazz as a “first class saxophonist that blows the proverbial roof off the place”.  Oakland-raised Green is known for his bedrock groove and inexhaustible creativity. As a group they never fail to entertain.

Sunday, 2:45: Orrin Evans
The Orrin Evans Trio with Joanna Pascale is captained by the Philadelphia born pianist, composer, arranger, and producer. Orrin Evans uses life’s hardest moments to influence his music. The result is raw and thrilling. He incorporates a wide range of influences, from jazz, neo-soul to country and hip-hop. Evans has released a CD every year since 1997 and heads a variety of ensembles including the Captain Black Big Band. All About Jazz says, “Seeing Evans live is a true event. His sheer joy cannot be contained.” He is accompanied by the vocalist one critic compared to a wild flower, Joanna Pascale.
Sunday, 4:30: Emilio Solla
Argentine born Emilio Solla gathers his gifts as pianist, composer, and arranger under the title of “Music Inventor.”  This Grammy nominated pianist & composer is considered by peers and critics to be one of the most outstanding and personal voices in this musical stream.  He fuses modern Argentine tango and folk with jazz and other contemporary music styles (generally referred to as “Tango-Jazz”). His deep roots in Astor Piazzola’s nuevo tango extend to include a range of ideas represented by the unique orchestration of his Grammie nominated 9 piece band, La Inestable De Brooklyn – A fitting note on which to conclude our Tribute to Innovation in Jazz.
We are again grateful to Kenneth and Susan Gruskin for their continued support, and The Gruskin Group for the art this year most notable on the dancing Shiva poster (thank you Jeff Barcan), as well as on other collectibles. Thanks also to program advertisers, Warren County Tourism, the Town and Village of Lake George, our donors who participated with Ken and Susan Gruskin’s matching donation program, and the New York State Council on The Arts with the support of Governor Andrew Cuomo and the New York State Legislature.  We encourage contributions from our audience to the continued life of this festival, and urge you to buy raffle tickets and goods under the tent throughout the weekend. On behalf of John Strong, Director of the LAKE GEORGE ARTS PROJECT, myself and those who’ve worked to make this event possible, we look forward to seeing you again at this year’s Jazz At The Lake.

NJCU ALUMNI JAZZ BIG BAND
100TH BIRTHDAY SALUTE
TO ELLA, DIZZY, BUDDY AND MONK
FEATURING JON FADDIS
AND CYRILLE AIMÉE

Free Concert September 15 on Jersey City Waterfront

The NJCU Alumni Jazz Big Band will perform a 100th Birthday Salute to Four Jazz Icons, featuring the music of Ella Fitzgerald, Dizzy Gillespie, Buddy Rich, and Thelonious Monk on the J. Owen Grundy Pier, Exchange Place, in Jersey City on Friday, September 15 at 6:00 p.m. Conducted by recently retired NJCU Professor Richard Lowenthal, this free concert features the renowned trumpeter Jon Faddis and the acclaimed young jazz singer Cyrille Aimée.

The fifth annual concert with the Alumni Jazz Big Band is a collaboration between New Jersey City University and the City of Jersey City, which recognizes the value of music and the arts for the people of the community.

“NJCU is proud to partner with the City to present this special tribute to four remarkable jazz artists who all happened to have been born 100 years ago. Their artistry had a profound influence on the development of jazz and it is wonderful to bring everyone together to celebrate,” said University President Sue Henderson. “We are particularly pleased that Jon Faddis and Cyrille Aimée are able to share their talents with our music alumni, faculty and students.”

One of the world’s most famous trumpet players, Jon Faddis was mentored by the great Dizzy Gillespie and is a long-time advocate of his music. As a performer and educator, he continues the jazz trumpet lineage going back to Louis Armstrong. Mr. Faddis was a guest artist at the first Alumni Jazz Big Band concert in 2013 as part of the celebration of Dr. Henderson’s inauguration as the University’s first woman president.

French singer Cyrille Aimée has been making a name for herself since she burst onto the jazz scene some 10 years ago. She has won the prestigious Montreux Jazz Festival Vocal Competition, the Sarah Vaughn International Jazz Vocal Competition, and was a finalist in the Thelonious Monk Vocal Competition. She now tours internationally with her own band and as a duo with the renowned guitarist Diego Figueiredo.

The NJCU Alumni Jazz Big Band features accomplished musicians who studied at the University as far back as the late 1960s, when Professor Richard Lowenthal started the jazz program.  Performing this year will be drummer Rich DeRosa (recipient of the 2014 NJCU Distinguished Alumni Award); sax players Mark Friedman, John DiSanto, Dave Nolan, Dustyn Richardson, and Dave Schumacher; trumpeters Marcell Bellinger, Vinnie Cutro, Nathan Eklund, and Freddie Hendrix; trombonists Rob Edwards, and Michael Modero; faculty members Allen Farnham on piano, Andy Eulau on bass, and Paul Robertson on percussion; former faculty member Peter McGuiness on trombone; and member of the Dizzy Gillespie Alumni All-Star Big Band, Doug Purviance, on trombone.

Sponsors for the Fifth Annual NJCU Alumni Jazz Big Band Concert include: the NJCU Foundation, New Jersey City University, Arch Insurance, Inserra Supermarkets, Hampshire Companies, RBC Capital Markets, NJTV, BCB Community Bank, Cambridge Construction, Connell Foley, Crossroads Construction, Del-Sano Contracting, Hudson County Office of Cultural & Heritage Affairs, Tom and Anne Stanton, Mack-Cali, Avison-Young, Hyatt Regency of Jersey City, African-American Chamber of Commerce, New Jersey State Chamber of Commerce, Hudson County Chamber of Commerce, New Jersey Jazz Society, WCTC, Hot House Jazz Magazine, and WBGO.

The 100th Birthday Salute to Four Jazz Icons concert is free and open to the public. In the event of rain, the concert will be held in the Harborside Atrium, Harborside Plaza 2 and 3 at 34 Exchange Place. The J. Owen Grundy Pier is conveniently located near public transportation and there are parking lots in the area.  For more information, call 201-200-3426 or visit the NJCU website at

Upcoming shows in this series include Woody King, Jr. (March 6, 2018) and Randy Weston (April 3, 2018).

“Person Place Thing” is an interview show recorded around New York and based on this idea: People are particularly engaging when they speak not about themselves, but about something they care about. Guests talk about one person, one place and one thing that is important to them. The result? Surprising stories from great talkers. This show is taped and will broadcast at a later date on public radio throughout the Northeast (WNYE, 91.5 FM in NYC), as well made available online.

Randy Cohen, creator and host of “Person Place Thing” began his career writing humor pieces, essays and stories for newspapers and magazines such as The New Yorker, Harpers and The Atlantic. He won three Emmys for his writing on “Late Night With David Letterman” and a fourth Emmy for his work on Michael Moore’s TV Nation. For 12 years he wrote “The Ethicist,” a weekly column for the New York Times Magazine. In 2010, his first play, “The Punishing Blow,” ran at New York’s Clurman Theater. His most recent book, “Be Good: How to Navigate the Ethics of Everything,” was published by Chronicle.

Jazz impresario Jack Kleinsinger was awarded an honorary Doctorate of Letters from the University of North Florida and is a former Assistant Attorney General of the State of New York. Kleinsinger started producing “Highlights in Jazz” — the longest-running, continuous jazz series in the history of New York City — 45 years ago. He has produced many concerts in New York City schools, colleges and prisons, and co-produced programs for the Newport and New York Jazz festivals as well as for the Jazz Festival in Nice, France. His honors and awards include the 1997 JVC Jazz Festival concert, “Thanks to Jack Kleinsinger for 25 Years of Highlights in Jazz,” the Charlie Parker Memorial Award presented at the 52nd Street Americana Festival, and a proclamation by Manhattan Borough President C. Viginia Fields designating February 5 as Jack Kleinsinger Day in the borough.

ANNA DANES
Makes Her NYC Club Debut
at Club Bonafide

Tickets & Info

“Simply put, Anna Danes is a STAR.”
– United Press International

Discovering a new life, fresh purpose and her true inner voice after years of keeping up appearances in an unfulfilled existence she called a “gilded cage,” Anna Danes is truly flying high. The emerging jazz vocalist and songwriter captures the inspirational philosophy that continues to propel her forward in the opening lines from “Find Your Wings,” the gorgeous piano-vocal ballad that is the title track and centerpiece to her new full length album. Speaking both to her soul and to millions of women who seek the courage to liberate themselves and follow their deeper creative passions, she sings, “When you feel that you don’t fit/You’re not understood one bit/Find Your Wings/You can rise above the fray/Sing what you can’t seem to say/Find Your Wings.”

The Polish born, San Diego based multi-faceted artist and performer’s advocacy for passion-pursuing and dream chasing has caught on quickly. Upon its release, Find Your Wings debuted at #1 on the iTunes jazz chart. Soon thereafter, it placed on two Billboard charts, reaching #13 on the Traditional Jazz chart and in the Top 25 on the Jazz Albums chart. The collection, a follow-up to her well received 2013 debut Longing, was produced by Dave Darling (Brian Setzer, Tom Waits, Jack Johnson, Motley Crue) and recorded with top L.A. session musicians in Capitol Studios A, where greats like Frank Sinatra and Nat “King” Cole once held court.

A true Renaissance woman who has used music as a springboard to become a motivational speaker, budding author, noted philanthropist and live show producer in the San Diego area, Anna recently created a vision board for the way she wants her career to unfold. None of these hopes and dreams seemed remotely possible just a few years ago, when her marriage was breaking down and the onetime stay at home mom was trying to literally find her wings and start over at the age of 43. Recording her second album in the place where the legends worked their timeless magic was the ultimate confirmation that she had succeeded in re-inventing herself while sharing those long latent musical gifts with the world.

“Find Your Wings is about me having found my passion and purpose and being set free on this exciting new path of music, which allowed me to leave my cage of self-doubt,” Anna adds. “I had a cushy lifestyle and could have taken the path of least resistance and stayed in it. Five years ago I was a pale shadow of myself, dressed nicely for all the world to see but empty inside.”

The six standards on Find Your Wings are all “dear friends” already in her repertoire – “I Will Wait For You,” “It’s Crazy,” “I Want to Be Around/Cry Me A River,” “That’s All” and “In The Wee Small Hours.” The six originals are powerful snapshots of her life from around the time she wrote them. “The Voice,” a co-write with Cindy Alexander, is about life at the end of her marriage, while “Mr. OMG,” co-penned with Harris, reflects on life after separation. The others – “Long Distance” (co-written with Darling), “See You in L.A.” (with Alexander) and “I Love You,” a hypnotic a capella piece written by Anna that closes the set – are life with a new love and falling in love for the first

In addition to her career as a singer, Anna produces private and public events as well as the very successful Jazz on Cedros concert series in San Diego that has celebrated sold out shows since its inception in 2014. She is currently writing her first book – also titled “Find Your Wings” – which chronicles her incredible journey from Poland to Canada and Southern California, through her careers as a lawyer and business manager for her husband, and the amazing unfolding of her musical artistry. She is also an avid philanthropist for causes that support women, children and the arts, with a seat on the board of the San Diego Symphony.

Special Saturday evening performance 7:30 PM:
