And especially here
As THE FILM FORUM continues its ongoing celebration of African American women in the cinema, we present a fabulous compilation of rare concert performances of the First Lady of Song performing GEORGE & IRA GERSHWIN classics, both solo and alongside the likes of FRANK SINATRA, DUKE ELLINGTON, COUNT BASIE & SAMMY DAVIS, JR. The great Fitzgerald did no less than three Gershwin Songbook albums, the most famous of which is the epic five-disc, 60-song masterpiece package with Nelson Riddle’s Orchestra. Produced by Bruce Goldstein and Compiled & hosted by WALL STREET JOURNAL (and CITIVIEW) award-winning journalist and historian Will Friedwald. Compiled from a combination of rare European concert footage and great American variety shows of the 1950s, '60s and '70s. When we first presented this program in honor of the First Lady’s centennial three years ago, it completely sold out, and that’s highly likely to happen again, so it’s best to procure tickets in advance.
There will be two shows (both on Monday Jan 27) : 2:20PM & 6:40PM
