D’Rivera: Kites (#48)
Shorter: Terra incognita (#161)

Kudos to the esteemed woodwind quintet Imani Winds for undertaking three monster compositions by jazz greats Wayne Shorter, Jason Moran & Paquito D’ Rivera. Released in August, the album, titled Terra Incognita after Shorter’ s piece, features three works all written specifically for the Imani Winds as part of their Legacy Commissioning Project. That these three composers accepted the challenge of writing for this ensemble is a source of great honor for the group.
