On January 1, 2016, Jo Ann Cheatham made her transition. She was a beloved, long time cultural advocate in Brooklyn, particularly in the jazz and media communities (she founded and published PURE JAZZ MAGAZINE). Her influence, as well as her vision and legacy, was bigger and broader than this borough. Jo Ann was a big-hearted woman. She was a "doer," a connector, and she poured her soul into us. Her selflessness was extremely uncommon.
Jo Ann’s memorial is scheduled for Wednesday January 20th from 6 to 9:00 pm
at Bedford Stuyvesant Restoration Corporation located at 1368 Fulton Street, Brooklyn, NY 11216, in the community room. Jo Ann’s family would like to thank all her friends, colleagues and extended family members who were concerned about her health and well-being.
