David Baker has Joined the Ancestors
I received word from Ken Kimery, Director of the Smithsonian Jazz Masterworks Orchestra that
David Nathaniel Baker Jr. (December 21, 1931 – March 26, 2016)
passed today. It is also posted on his Wikipedia entry (copied above).
I wrote this on my FB wall:
Heartbroken to learn that the true renaissance man of Jazz, David N. Baker has joined the ancestors. Composer, performer, educator, and mentor to most of us involved in this art form, David Baker was a primary architect of Jazz Education. R.I.P. Dear Brother David, your impact, influence and inspiration is immortal.
A sad day for our music,
