It's with great sadness that I share the news that saxophonist Roger "Buck" Hill has passed at the age of 90. He's was a great tenor man who spent his professional life here in DC working for the USPS, but all the musicians here loved and respected him. He was a very nice, soft-spoken, gentle man, and a total badass on the bandstand. Buck was 90. For anyone interested, I'd recommend the recordings he made for Steeplechase, both in studio and at the Northsea Jazz Festival.
