Back in the 1970s when I was managing the jazz dept for Happy Tunes Records on 8thSt in the Village my shift was Noon to 1am the store manager would play Morgana King’s The Party’s over every day seven days a week that’s how you knew it was closing time.
Whenever I saw the guitarist Gene Bertoncini I would joke that he was the God Mother’s accompanist on her club dates.
He appears on her 1965 recording for Mainstream Records Miss Morgana King.
She’s best known for her role in the God Father films, but to jazz fans she’ll always be the great Morgana King.
R.I.P. Morgana King.
