Tonight At Cornelia Street Cafe

Tue  Jul 20th 8:30PM
THE BRYAN MURRAY (HIPSTER BAND NAME) TRIO
(Bryan Murray, tenor sax; Terrence McManus, guitar; Jeff Davis, drums)

West Virginia native Bryan Murray began playing jazz saxophone at a young age and has devoted most of his life to studying and performing. He attended the University of Kentucky, then moved to Chicago and attended DePaul University where he performed with jazz legends including Joe Lovano, Kenny Werner and Nicholas Payton, and recorded a live CD with Tom Harrell.
The Bryan Murray (Hipster Band Name) Trio, which features guitarist Terrence McManus and drummer Jeff Davis alongside tenor saxophonist Bryan Murray, reflects a non-traditional musical collaboration 2 years in the making. This “bass-less” trio draws from many free jazz sources and takes an open, experimental approach to Murray’s original compositions as well as those by eclectic American songwriters whose music is less explored in an improvisational context, including Willie Nelson, Led Zeppelin and Elliot Smith.
