The Center for Jazz Studies is currently engaged in the J-DISC project.  We are building a database for jazz recordings that is massively
searchable and available to all researchers without charge.  Although it is still very much a work-in-progress,
you can take a look at what is now online at: http://jdisc.columbia.edu

The J-DISC project involves people devoted to compiling accurate information on specific recordings by jazz artists and making this data
available to anyone with an interest in the music.  This includes scholars in the rapidly growing disciplines of jazz studies
as well as in the exciting new area of Music Information Retrieval.

This event is free and open to the public but a RSVP is required.
Please email ym189@columbia.edu to secure your rsvp for this event.

The Bremen Town Band
Miller Theatre at Columbia University
$9-$40 BUY SINGLE TICKETS

Seeking to escape their tiresome days on the farm as beasts of burden, four spirited animals –
a donkey, a dog, a cat, and a rooster – set out on an adventure to realize their dreams and fill
their lives with music.

This Miller Theatre commission, an inspired spin on a classic Grimm fairytale, features imaginative
silhouette puppetry by director and designer Lake Simons (Carnival of the Animals). Equally at home
with jazz and classical styles, Courtney Bryan has penned an original score, which will be performed
live by an all-star quintet of jazz musicians.
